If I am to say Nike is the best of the best apparel brands, I guess only few would throw a punch at me. They are probably the fans of H&M, Abercrombie and Fitch or Zara. These are all the most valuable apparel labels in the world whose value would just blow your mind to the Mars in no time. Thus, what is the point to argue whose top the Best Global Brands list while all of them have their different audiences worldwide?

A little Nike Story ( Name, Logo, Slogan )

The quest for the meaning of Nike seems endless. It started even before this global sportswear label stepped onto the international stage. So what does Nike stand for? It was actually the name for the Goddess of Victory in the always exciting Greek mythology.

Oh my god! Goddess of Victory would be illuminating your way if you put on any of the Nike shoes. Even Olympic gold medalists told the press how that pair of magic sneakers has brought them to the new level of mastery and achievement. The message is simple and clear. Nike products are not merely lifeless gears or accessories, but they come in with spirit that strengthens your faith in your way towards glory.

Nike logo, the immortal Swoosh, is another genius marketing idea that contributes to its global success. And who designed the Nike logo? She was Carolyn Davidson who submitted her artwork as freelance with a bill of only $35. She later received a gold Swoosh ring and an envelope enclosed with Nike stock from Phil Knight. The Swoosh was actually developed from the wing of the Greek Goddess of Victory. It symbolizes positivity as its shape is similar to a checkmark. Bingo! That’s one of the super reasons why the label is universally embraced by top athletes and runners and even the most ordinary human. It’s all because we, by nature, love positive things.

However, the abstract wing only complete when the slogan “Just Do It” was introduced and integrated in probably one of the most successful marketing system in the history. The meaningful Swoosh blends in with the sticky tagline and the chemistry totally ignites the sneaker market. It’s really amazing to learn how little thing can make huge difference. So far we have not got any powerful atomic bomb yet which could bomb the whole world into debris in the universe, but we have a simple logo design and three short words which effectively turned a company into a worldwide icon.

3 Reasons Why I Love Nike

Even before I knew about the meaning behind the name and the Swoosh I had already fallen deep in love with the brand. Why?

Magic logo design. I love the logo being simple to look, but hard to draw. Hey man, it’s just a checkmark and what’s so hard to draw it? Yeah, I was thinking the same. I was even fighting with my mind and trying to hypnotize myself into believing that it’s really easy to scratch it. Okay, I would be wise to stop talking. You try.
Technology and product design. One time you are so fond of the design of the latest Nike Uptown sneakers, the other time you are amazed with the built-in technology of Nike Air Force 1. The products are not only designed with elegant sense and sensibility but they are also incorporated with the newest buzz in technology. You feel as if you could fly with the lightest Nike basketball shoes that signed by Kobe.
Viral commercial ads. I really wish to find out who is the producer of those funniest commercial videos that always make me laugh my ass out. I would ask for his autograph for sure if I have the chance to meet him because those ads really make my days. Only a piece of Tiramisu (literally means lift me up in Italian) or Nike ads could pick me up in the end of the world.
